Bio
Junhee Hong, born and raised in Korea, is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is centered on printmaking. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2025 and is currently pursuing her MFA in Printmaking at the University of Iowa. Her artistic practice encompasses woodblock relief, monoprint, and lithography, with a particular focus on exploring the material possibilities of each medium.
Hong's work begins with photographs of unintentional abstract structures found in nature, which she translates into drawings and then develops through print media. Her practice investigates how color, pattern, texture, and material can reveal new meanings in observed forms. Through experimentation and play, she examines the relationship between memory, observation, and the specific possibilities of printmaking as a vehicle for abstraction.
